Let’s get to know a little about the history ofGoldendoodles first.

A Goldendoodle is a cross breed between a standard Poodle and a Golden Retriever. The mix resulted inan intelligent hybrid that loves to play and socialize with both humans and other animals. They can be very affectionate, active, outgoing and adventurous andkeeping them still can affect their behavior.

The Cream Goldendoodle is called like this because of itscolor. This type of dog has a dominant cream colored coat all over its body, thus the name. The coat color of Goldendoodleshas different variations. There are Goldendoodles with apricot color, some are black, others are gray, red or golden like their parent Golden Retriever.

The Goldendoodles’ coat has different types and it varies from one Goldendoodle to another. It also depends on which parent breed is the more dominating one. There are some that inherit the curly hair of the Poodle parent breed while othershave shaggy hair like the Golden Retriever. But most of them have a mix of both hair types.

The hair of the Goldendoodles can grow between 2 to 3 inches long and will need proper grooming to maintain it and avoid matting and tangles. Although these dogscan have long hair, they can be hypoallergenic, a characteristic they inherited from their Poodleparent.

A Goldendoodle can weigh from 15 to 30 pounds for a miniature and 30 to 45 pounds for a medium sized Goldendoodle. There are also standard sized Goldendoodles that can weigh between 45 to 90 pounds. They can reach a height of 13 to 24 inches and are expected to live for 10 to 15 years.

Now that you have thebackground of the Goldendoodle, let’s talk aboutthe proper way of caring for them.

Our Goldendoodle pets are like human babies, they love attention and they need to feel that they are loved and a part of the family. As a responsible owner, you must learn how to care for your Goldendoodle.

Here are some tips to properly care for your Cream Goldendoodles.

  1. Give them attention.

A Goldendoodle is an affectionate hybrid and they love attention. When a Goldendoodle misbehaves, it means that he wants your attention. Lack of attention drives them to jealousy and they show it through mischievous behavior. You will see some traits that are unusual to them and that is how they try togetyour attention so that you make time for them.

Goldendoodles are friendly and outgoing and love to play with kids and other animals. However, most of the time, they wanted to be caressed and treated likebabies. They know when your attention is not with them and that is when the mischiefs happen.

As a Goldendoodle owner, you must give enough attention to your dog. They have the tendency to misbehave if you are not attentive with them. They will always try to do something to get your attention, but they are intelligent beings soyou can also teach them when to stop misbehaving.

  1. Taketime to train them.

The parent breeds of these dogs, the Golden Retriever and the Poodle, are both active breeds. They love to run around and retrieve things, especially the Golden Retriever. Training them will give you time to bond with each other which is also important in developing the character traits of your doodle.

Goldendoodles are also prone to some diseases and exercise is vital for their health. Training them can also teach them to behave properly whenever your attention is not with them. Like all dogs, Goldendoodles need a daily dose of training and exercise for their physical health.

  1. Groom them.

The Goldendoodles can sport a curly or shaggy coat but because of the Poodle breed in their lineage, their coats are hypoallergenic and they do not shed hair frequently. This is the reason whymany people love them because they can’t cause allergies and why they are therecommended dogs for those who have dander allergies but want to have a pup.

Although they don’t shed a lot of fur like other dogs, they also need grooming once in a while. Part of their grooming routine is giving thema bathevery three or four weeks. This needs to be done in a warm room  and in a big enough tub, using warm water. They have a thick coat that needs to be washed properly with a high-quality shampoo.

After their bath, you can also use a conditioner on their coat to make it shinier and smoother. You must trim the hair as well so there will be less tangling and make brushingeasier. You can groom your dog yourself, or go to a professional groomer if you think you can’t give them proper grooming.

  1. Be attentive to their health.

Goldendoodles can inherit some common illnesses from their parents like hip dysplasia, eye disease, heart disease, degenerative Myelopathy, and PRA. These are conditions you need to watch out for because they can greatly affect yourGoldendoodle.

Ifyou notice that your Goldendoodle is showing some behavior that relates to their health, you must seek medical help immediately.

  1. Give them enough food.

Goldendoodles are active dogs and their diet needs to be a good source of energy. Depending on the size of your Goldendoodle, the amount of food may vary but they can be fed three small meals a day or two average meals a day.

Just like you, your Goldendoodle also needs to have a healthy diet not because they train and exercise but becauseyou can overfeed them. A balanced diet is still important so they can maintain their health. Water is also essential for theirhydration.

Conclusion

A Goldendoodle, whethercream or apricotcolored, needs to be properly taken care of. They also need the attention of their fur parents to make them feel safe and secure. Playing with them and enjoying their company can boost their loyalty to you and your family.
