Pomchon puppies are a good option for people who are looking for a pet that doesn’t have a lot of exercise requirements. This breed is also called Pom Frise and Bichonaranian and it is a cross between the Bichon Frise and the Pomeranian.

Pomchon puppies are also a good choice for those who live in apartments since they arelap dogs that love snuggling next to their humans.

What Pomchon Puppies Look Like

Pomchon puppies can inherit the physical traits of their parent breeds. Most Pomchon puppies have round heads. Their tail can look like that of aPomeranian or a Bichon Frise. Pomchon pups have short legs, dark eyes, and black noses.

The texture of their coat varies and it will depend on which parent breed they have inherited the coat from. Pomchon puppies come in different colors. They can be black, fawn, white, brown or a mix of these colors. AdultPomchons can weigh between 7 and 15 lbs and stand at 12″.

The lifespan of Pomchons is 14 years on average, provided that they are well cared for.  They are an easy to maintain and generally healthy breed.

Origin

Pomchons are a new breed of dogs. They can be considered rare, particularly when compared to popular dog breeds. Inadvertent crosses between Bichon Frises and Pomeranians have occurred before, but reputable breeders are now purposely mating Poms to Bichon Frises to develop a new breed that is an ideal companion and lap dog.

The parental breeds of Pomchon pups don’t lack history. Pomeranians have been around since the eighteenth century, while Bichon Frises have been charming people since the 1300s. With the rich history of these breeds and their traits, it is not surprising that they were used to create a new breed.

Pomchon Puppies Diet

Pomchons are small dogs, so they only need about 1/2 cup of food daily. Occasional treats can be given when training them to do tricks. After all, you don’t want your pet to become obese or develop health problems caused by a poor diet. Since they are not very active dogs, you should be careful about the amount of food you are feeding them.

Due to their relaxed nature, they may not be able to burn off their excess calories. However, this won’t deter them from eating whenever they want. What you can do is prevent them having access to their bowl of food throughout the day. You can split their food on two to three meals, which you will give every few hours.

Pomchon puppies can benefit from forty to sixty minutes of exercise every day. You can play fetch or walk them around the neighborhood two times a day to meet their exercise requirement.

Pomchon Puppies Temperament

Pomchon puppies will have a unique temperament which depends on their parents and how they were socialized. Most Pomchon pups are affectionate, carefree and lively. Their spiritedness is probably because of their Pomeranian parent.

Pomeranians are affectionate, but they can be wary of strangers. Bichon Frises, on the other hand, are friendly and easy going. They will wag their tails even at strangers. Pomchon puppies are in between these two traits. They are friendly dogs that love hugs and cuddles.

However, they can be excessively dependent on their humans. They can also suffer from separation anxiety if they’re not correctly socialized from a young age. This means that you should teach the pup to be relaxed and independentwhen alone.

Health Problems

Crossbreed dogs are gaining more popularity among many people because they tend to develop fewer health problems than the Bichon Frises and Pomeranians. Expect your Pomchon puppy to be healthy, as long as you give him the right amount of food, exercise and care.

You don’t have to worry about any major breed-specific problems. Old Pomchons may develop teeth and minor eye problems, hip dysplasia and kneecap dislocation. Most of these concerns can be prevented, provided that your Pomchon is well taken care of. Your pup should have a well-balanced diet and exercise and you should take him to the vet for routinecheckups.

How to Potty Train

Potty trainingPomchon pups can be frustrating and time consuming. You can use a crate to make things easier for you and it’s also a humane and gentle way of training your dog. Consistency is the most important part of training the pups. Stick with a schedule for as long as possible. Two weeks or longer will be enough.

Your Pomchon puppy should stay in their crate all the time unless when he isbeing exercised or out for some playtime. After relieving himself outside, you can take him out to play for a brief period. Pomchon pups love to asleep and eat, so you don’t have to let them out for a long period of time. Keep the pup in a crate at night or when you are not in the house.

Make going and staying in the crate a positive experience for the pups. Every time a Pomchon pup is in the crate, you should feed him a high quality kibble. You should also put a small toy inside the crate. Make sure that the toy won’t be easilydestroyed or swallowed. If the puppy makes a fuss, just speak to him to keep him calm.

Once your Pomchon pup is quiet, you can take him out of the crate and cuddle with him. However, don’t do it when he’s being vocal about it. There should be some playtime before you put him back in the crate, so he’s ready for nap. You can keep his crate near you, so you can reassure your pup that he’s not alone. When he wakes up, take the pup outside and praise him when he relieves himself in his designated potty area.

Pomchon pups should be capable of sleeping in the crate all nightwithout any accident by three months of age. They should go outside when they wake up. Stay with them until they go and praise them. You can also give them a treat and then bring them back inside.

Use a low pitched voice when scolding your dog and a high pitch when praising them. However, these dogs do better when praised. Only scold the pup if you’re there when an accident happens. Pick them up, look them in the eye and take them outside. Give them food when you bring them in and then take them back outside 15 to 20 minutes later.

Continue to take them outside every 2 hours until you identify their schedule for relieving themselves. You can get everyone in the family involved in keeping a chart. By doing so, it will be easier for you to understand how often your pet has to go outside.

Crated puppies should not be able to reach children’s toys, electrical wires or anything small that they can chew on and swallow. A crate can help them have enough rest. Since puppies are still fragile, they should not be exercised excessively. You can take Pomchon puppies outside for a brief supervised playtime and they can also exercise inside the house.

The crate serves as their comfort zone. A crateddog can be moved away and picked up immediately when there’s danger such as a house fire or tornado. You don’t need to look for your pet if he’s in the same spot all the time. When you properly crate train your Pomchon puppy, he won’t feel that it is their prison and he will be willing to go back inside.

How Much Do Pomchon Puppies Cost?

Pomchon puppies cost around $500. The price will be affected by various factors such as demand and supply, location and the costs spent by the breeder. When demand is high, the price will get higher as well. If there’s no demand for Pomchon puppies in your area, you may need to search for one somewhere else so you have to be prepared for travel expenses.

How to Find a Reputable Pomchon Breeder

You can look for reputable breeders online. Purchase from a breeder with dog breedingcertification or who is knowledgeable about raising a healthy dog. After all, you don’t want to get a sickly dog. Buy from a breeder who can provide the information about the vaccination of the pups and has the papers to prove it.

Purchasing a pup that has already been vaccinated and dewormed is a good idea if you don’t want to deal with the process on your own. This also shows that the breeder is taking good care of their dogs.
